Program Description
Wright Flood is the nation’s largest provider of flood insurance, offering that important coverage for more than 40 years. It also leads the way as the largest writer of policies for the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), the federal government’s plan.
Wright Flood recently acquired Poulton Associates, one of the top private flood insurance providers in the nation. Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Poulton operates the web platform, www.CATcoverage.com, and has been a leader in provisioning risk services since 1989. The organization provides coverage through its popular National Catastrophe Insurance Program (NCIP) as well as other insurance offerings.
Wright Flood also offers private flood and excess flood products through carriers that include Berkshire Hathaway, Chubb, Hiscox and Lloyd’s of London. Here are a few highlights of those offerings:
- Berkshire Hathway Specialty Insurance (BHSI): This primary residential program is available in 11 states. It offers coverage in high-risk areas, with maximum building coverage of up to $2 million.
- Chubb: This program allows for building coverage of up to $2 million for both residential and commercial properties. It’s available in 17 states.
- FocusFlood: Backed by Lloyd’s of London, the program is available in 21 states. It offers primary residential coverage with options for higher limits up to $5 million.
- Hiscox: This primary residential program allows for building coverage of up to $4.5 million TIV for both residential and commercial properties. It’s available in 19 states.
- Wright Excess: This product offers building coverage of up to $1.75 million and contents coverage up to $100,000 and is intended to provide additional coverage for NFIP policies. It’s available in 41 states.
- Brokerage: Backed by Lloyd’s of London, the program is available for residential and commercial properties. It is designed as a solution for unique underwriting needs. It’s available in 26 states.

- For homes, businesses, condo units, renters including single family, multifamily, condominiums–residential or commercial
- All flood zones whether your property is deemed at high flood risk or considered low to moderate flood risk
- All building types including those with basements or enclosures, on a slab or a crawlspace
